Why should I register with Global Sources Online?

Registration for our basic services such as product and supplier search and inquiry, and Product and News Alert are free of charge. There are no hidden costs.

What do I need to register?
To register for free, all you need is a valid e-mail address, and login name and password, plus your name, company name and country.

Once you've registered, you can use this same login name and password for all Global Sources Online products and services.

How do I register?
Registration to Global Sources is simple and fast:

1. Click on the Register link at the top navigation bar of any page in Global Sources Online.

2. Complete the required fields.

3. If you wish, enter keyword(s) to receive e-mail updates when new products are posted online, then click Continue. On the next page, you will see the matching categories for you to select for your Product Alert e-mail updates (free with your registration). Select your categories and click the "Receive Alerts" button. You will see a confirmation page. Don't forget to check your e-mail inbox afterwards and click the verification link in the e-mail we send you to confirm you want to receive Product Alert e-mail updates!

4. If you do not wish to enter keyword(s), simply click Continue. On the next page, you will have option again to enter keywords to select categories to receive free Product Alert e-mail updates.

Please note: If you are a supplier and have already registered for a Free Listing, you will need to register separately for Global Sources Online buyer services.

What do you do with my registration information? (Privacy Policy)
Global Sources will never give out or sell your personal information to other parties. For more information, please read our Privacy Policy.

What are the guidelines for choosing a password?
Your password for Global Sources is case-sensitive. We suggest the following general guidelines for creating passwords:

• Use at least eight characters.

• Make a password easy for you to remember but hard for someone else to guess.

• Avoid passwords closely related to your personal information, e.g. using your login name or company name as your password.

• Use a mixture of letters or numbers and these punctuation (. _ -) — but do not use spaces.

Why do I get the error "This E-mail Address already exists" or "This Login Name already exists" when I enter my e-mail address or login name?
This means someone has already registered for Global Sources Online with that particular e-mail address or login name.

What you can do:

• Use a different e-mail address or login name.

• You may have registered previously using this e-mail address and/or login name. You can click on "Forgot your login name or password?" in the Registration or Login Page and follow the instructions provided.

• If you are not sure whether you are registered, please contact us and allow our Customer Services to help you. If you require immediate help, you can Chat online now with a Customer Service Officer.

What is "Remember me when I come back"?
If you check the "Remember me when I come back" box, you will never have to re-enter your user name or password in order to search for products and suppliers or to make inquiries. (Unless you consciously decide to log out because you are using a shared computer or unless you delete your cookies from your PC.)

You can browse other sites, read and answer e-mail, even shut down your PC. When you return to Global Sources, you will automatically be reconnected. Nothing could be more convenient.

Important: Do remember your login name and password. For your protection, we will ask you to re-enter your password when you access certain personalized areas of the site, such as your Product Alert settings, User Profile and Notifications settings.
The User Profile link can be found at the top navigation bar. Note: You may be asked to login for access.
Should I check "Remember Me" or not?
If you are not using a shared computer, we recommend you check it to facilitate ease of use.
However, if you're concerned that other people might accidentally see your pages, don't check the "Remember me" box.
If you use a shared computer (in a library, Internet cafe, university, airport or other common area), we also recommend that you do not check the "Remember me" box.
What if I change my mind?
You can log out of the website at any time by clicking the "Logout" link in the left navigation bar. Once you've logged out, you can login again and choose whether your browser "remembers" you or not.
How does this work?
The system uses cookies in your computer. Learn more about how cookies work.

Why does my registration form become blank when I submit it?
When you submit your registration form (by pressing the dark blue "Continue" button), if the fields become blank and nothing happens, your browser's cookie setting may be disabled or set at a too high or restricted level.

Once I'm registered, what happens next?
After registration, you are automatically logged into Global Sources Online. You will then be able to use a much wider range of Global Sources services. You will also receive a welcome e-mail from Global Sources which includes helpful hints on how to use our Product Alert service.

Important: After registering, we recommend that you go to your User Profile page and complete your contact and company information. This ensures that these details are pre-completed in the form each time you send an inquiry. Plus providing more details in a format they are used to receiving, helps suppliers send more focused and appropriate answers to your needs or requests.
To do this make sure you are logged into the site. The User Profile link will only appear in the top navigation bar after a successful login.

Why should I select product categories?
Selecting product categories enables you to use Global Sources Product Alert.
Product Alert is a customizable e-mail service that updates you on products, suppliers and industry news as soon as these are posted on Global Sources Online, for the product categories in which you are interested. You can add or remove product categories, or stop receiving Product Alert updates, at any time.
