Global Sources - Product Alert Help

For some e-mail providers (see below), you may need to take an extra step to view images in the e-mails you receive.

Microsoft Outlook 2003
Google Mail (GMail)
MSN Hotmail
Yahoo! mail

Please note: If you're having trouble viewing Product Alert e-mails, you always have the option of looking at the text and images online. It's easy to do. Just click the "View online" link (See screenshot).

Microsoft Outlook 2003

The default Microsoft Outlook 2003 installation does not allow images to be downloaded or displayed in the Global Sources Product Alert that you receive. To view the images please follow these instructions:

1. Click on "Click here to download pictures. To help protect your privacy, Outlook prevented automatic download of some pictures in this message" located above the standard e-mail headers at the top of the Message window or the preview pane.

2.
Select "Add the Domain @globalsources.com to Safe Senders List" or "Add Domain to Safe Senders List" option to include Global Sources to your safe senders list.

We also recommend you add our common mailing e-mail addresses listed below to your Microsoft Outlook 2003 Contact list. This will ensure that images are always displayed in e-mails received from Global Sources: (see detailed instructions on how to add)

Congratulations! You should be able to view the images in your Global Sources Product Alert now.

In GMail, upon viewing a Global Sources Product Alert, images are not displayed by default. To allow images to be displayed, please follow these instructions:

Click on the "Always display images from paservices@alerts.globalsources.com" hyperlink in the green-highlighted area located above the e-mail message under the header.

We also recommend you add our common mailing e-mail addresses listed below to your Google Mail Contact list from the "Contacts" hyperlink in the left menu panel. This will ensure that images are always displayed in e-mails received from Global Sources:

You can download Global Sources email addresses in .CSV format, to more easily import the list of e-mail addresses above to your Google Mail Contact list.

Congratulations! You should be able to view the images in your Global Sources Product Alert now.

If you use MSN Hotmail, the default setting enables images to be displayed in the e-mails that you receive. However, if you are unable to view the images please follow these instructions:

1.   Click on "Options" hyperlink located at the upper right hand corner of the MSN Hotmail.

2.   Click on "Mail" from the left menu panel and then click on the "Mail Display Settings" hyperlink to access the Mail Display Settings options.

3.   Corresponding to the "Display Internet Content" section, check the "Display Internet content" radio button.

4.   Click on the "OK" button to save your settings. Return to the Global Sources Product Alert in your inbox, you should be able to view the images now.

If you use Yahoo! mail, the default settings enable images to be displayed in the e-mails that you receive. However, if you are unable to view the images please follow these instructions:

1.   Click on "Options" hyperlink, which is located at the top right hand corner of Yahoo! mail.

2.   Then click on the "General Preferences" hyperlink, which is located in the column under the header, "Management".

3.   Scroll down to the "Messages" section; Make sure that the checkbox for "Block HTML graphics in e-mail messages from being downloaded" is unchecked.

4.   Click on the "Save" button to save your settings. Return to the Global Sources Product Alert in your Inbox, you should be able to view the images now.

We also recommend you add our common mailing e-mail addresses listed below to your Yahoo! mail Address book from the "Addresses" tab at the upper position in Yahoo! mail. This will ensure that images are always displayed in e-mails received from Global Sources: (see detailed instructions on how to add)
