W.W. Grainger, Inc. was founded in Chicago 70 years ago and is the leading American business-to-business distributor of maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) supplies and related information. Today, there are 350 Grainger stores across the US and Canada. It also has operations in Mexico and Puerto Rico. Grainger stores offer equipment, components, and supplies for maintenance, repair, HVAC, testing, construction, and other service operations. Grainger started with an 8-page wholesale catalog called The MotorBook. In 1997 its general catalog offers more than 78,000 brand names, including 14,000 new products from a-coils to zip screws.

Its mission is to procure high quality and cost competitive products from reliable Asian manufacturers to meet the private branded product needs of the various business units within W.W.
