The Privacy of Things ‘PoT’

Caspar ter Horst, Managing Director, ProductIP

Technology being developed for connected homes provides many benefits to consumers and businesses. The Internet of Things is a complete new chapter bringing technology to every corner of non-food consumer goods. This brings new responsibilities to retail and trade.

For example, the Radio Equipment Directive requires brand owners to ensure that products with wireless technology do not compromise the performance of the data infrastructure, that they protect the privacy of the user and even ensure that visually impaired people also have access to the internet. Already, formal non-compliance with this directive can be sufficient for market surveillance authorities to stop sales or demand a recall.

This ProductIP sharing will give everybody in retail and trade insight in the key elements of this regulatory framework.
