Chongqing Huansong Industries (Group) Co. Ltd is upgrading its line of automotive parts and accessories to boost revenue. The company currently offers a selection of ATVs, UTVs, motorcycles and related parts to the US, Europe and Africa.
In an interview with Global Sources, general manager Oliver Chen provides details on the company’s plans and strategies for the months ahead. Below are excerpts of the discussion.
We are steering product development toward the expansion of designs for recreational vehicles. Toward this end, we are building a new plant in Changzhou district, Chongqing municipality. It will cover an area of 7 million square meters. It will become a world-class production base, which will help position our company as an industry leader both here and abroad.
The projection is stern. The opportunities for growth lie in raising technology content, improving product quality and developing new.
The challenges, meanwhile, consist of increased competition from Taiwan, Japan and the US.
Our company will boost its competitive edge against releases from these areas and subsequently expand our market share.
There are several ways we address this issue. First, we are undertaking large-scale production and enhancing the ratio of volume orders to reduce outlay. We are also adopting more advanced management methods to lessen consumption. Increasing sales channels and quotes to a certain extent will also be implemented. Lastly, we will also set up product development to roll out new and high-quality designs.
I do not think it has bounced back essentially because the economic and financial policies of the majority of the countries have not changed since that time. The consumption level of most buyers have not picked up from precrisis status. I believe it will take a longer period of time to recover completely from the impact of the slump.
We are looking to the Middle East, South America and Russia for growth. Currently, our shipments to these areas are small, but a breakthrough is projected because of their economic situation and rising demand among buyers there. Russia, in particular, will be a key target in coming months.
Makers should continue to roll out OEM designs and build their company’s presence further. Then they can venture into creating their own brands.
This is our basic development strategy. We are still concentrating on OEM business because our products’ advantage over Japan and US-made selections is not evident at present.
Our company launches new, high-quality products frequently and provides excellent aftersales service. For instance in Russia, while our products are not on a par with others, we offer designs with complete specifications and meet buyers’ various demands. Because of this, clients are willing to do business with us.
Founded in 2003, Chongqing Huansong is a privately owned enterprise composed of nine subsidiary companies.
The supplier has three manufacturing facilities with a total production capability of 1,000,000 motorcycles, 800,000 engines and 300,000 gasoline engines. It complies with various international standards, including CCC, COP and E3.
