Facts About Canvas materials
Canvas first came into its own in the early 15th century, when it began to replace wooden panels as the support medium for oil painting. The word itself dates to the 1300's and is derived from the Latin term for "made of hemp" (although today most canvas is made of cotton or linen). Canvas materials are used in a huge variety of modern products - from handbags to backpacks, trampolines to canoes, shoes to storage units.
