United Kingdom – Fire Fighting Enterprises has released FireRay 5000, an auto-aligning infrared optical beam smoke detector system that uses LASER alignment aid for easy installation. The system consists of a transmitter and receiver housed within the unit, with the beam reflected off a prism fixed onto the opposite wall. It comes with a system controller connected by a two-wire cable.

The EN54:12, CPD/LPCB-compliant device comes with an auto-optimize feature to ensure that the IR beam remains aligned with the reflective prism even in the event of gradual building movement—making the unit resistant to false alarms over a protracted period of time. It uses automatic gain compensation to monitor up to 1,500sqm coverage area, and react to environmental changes, such as dust accumulation.
