China makers enhance product performance by integrating HD panels and add-ons.

• Higher resolution: China makers are boosting resolution by employing HD LCD panels from Taiwan suppliers. Up to 800x480 pixels are supported by 7in digital screens, and 480x234 pixels by 7in analog types. Larger 8in digital and analog panels deliver 800x600 and 640x480 pixels, respectively.
  
• Multifunctionality & product upgrades: More models integrate digital TV, LAN, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Many have built-in stereo and hi-fi speakers for better sound quality. Releases are adopting up to 5,000mAh rechargeable lithium battery to extend the operating life.
  
• Housing design: Suppliers are adding patterns such as flowers and Chinese characters to enhance the visual appeal. The typical enclosure material options are ABS, aluminum, and AlMg and titanium alloy.
  
• Price & export projections: Most makers expect quotes to be stable in 1H12. Some, however, are implementing a markup of less than 15 percent to offset labor costs and lessen the impact of the stronger yuan. Many suppliers foresee overseas revenue staying at current levels, although several anticipate a decline due to the slowing European economy.
