Hot and cold pack makers enhance visual appeal, convenience

Suppliers are expanding color and shape options to target various applications.

TOP TRENDS

• Better aesthetics: A wider range of visually appealing forms, colors and prints are offered, especially for promotional applications. Models with transparent PVC covers adopt gel in different hues, including blue, yellow and red. Apart from popular animal and plant shapes, sports- and holiday-themed items are gaining popularity.
  
• Greater convenience: The selection now includes variants that can be warmed or cooled without using a microwave oven or refrigerator. Such instant hot and cold packs are usually activated by pressing a button, shaking or squeezing.
  
• More applications: Besides models for pain relief and therapy, makers are expanding selections to include designs that keep people warm during winter and cool in summer. These products come in the form of mats, pillows and scarves.
  
• Price forecast: Adjustments in quotes did not exceed 5 percent in past months, with increases driven mainly by the yuan’s appreciation. Most suppliers expect this trend to continue in the months ahead.
