• Realistic appearance: Achieving lifelike pieces is the top R&D concern of polyresin craft manufacturers. Nearly all suppliers are paying closer attention to design details to make the figurines look more natural and faithful to the actual individuals being simulated. The accuracy of facial features, for instance, is emphasized right down to the eyelashes.
  
• People themes: Companies are increasing output of models that resemble real personalities, including famous football players and politicians. Nonetheless, traditional motifs such as angel, Santa Claus, frog, tiger and cartoon characters remain popular.
  
• Functional crafts: To widen profit margins, makers are adding practical features to polyresin crafts. Some outdoor pieces are fitted with a solar-powered light, while several desktop versions have built-in clocks and photo frames. Simple decorative designs, however, still dominate.
