Natural, thicker fabrics lead baby romper trends

Baby bodysuits made of heavier organic cotton and bamboo rayon are gaining traction.

TOP TRENDS

• Earth-friendly fibers: More high-end rompers are employing natural materials not only for environmental safety but also for user benefits. Organic cotton is widely chosen for its breathable and hypoallergenic qualities, while bamboo rayon is favored for the anti-bacterial and odor-resistant properties.
  
• Upgraded fabrics: Makers adopt denser textiles such as 180gsm jersey instead of 160gsm versions to boost durability. Some upscale models utilize heavier interlock over jersey. In fabric blends, suppliers are raising the cotton ratio to at least 80 percent and may add bamboo rayon to improve functionality.
  
• Additional embellishments: Compared with previous bodysuits, recent styles incorporate more trimmings to enhance the visual appeal. Piping, patches, 3D motifs, ruffles and lace are popular for the 6 to 24-month-old segment. Large and allover prints and embroidery are also becoming mainstream.
  
• Price forecast: In the next six months, quotes are expected to rise just up to 5 percent amid relatively stable material costs. Prices are still affected by last year’s 15 to 20 percent wage increase. The yuan’s appreciation, which exceeded 4 percent in the same period, is a factor as well.
