Enhanced resolution & brightness: R&D efforts among China makers emphasize improved display attributes. Companies are raising resolution to SVGA, and brightness to 350 lumens. Many releases are adopting RGB LEDs light source and extending the life span to beyond 30,000hr. Suppliers are using quality decoding chips that support HD playback.
Display technology: LCoS will continue to be mainstream in the years ahead. But with more companies shifting production to upscale projectors, output of DLP types will grow by 20 to 25 percent in two or three years.
Features integration: Besides supporting various A/V formats, a growing number of releases from China combine digital still and video camera, RDS, DAB/DAB+ radio, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 2.4GHz RF functions. Many incorporate an SD/MMC/MS slot, touch buttons and a LAN port. Devices run on Android or Windows CE OS.
Price & export projections: Makers expect quotes to be stable or decrease by 5 percent in coming months. Overseas revenue is anticipated to stay at current levels or climb by 5 to 10 percent.
