Shenzhen Sunsky strengthens electronic accessories line

The maker will launch new cases for Samsung mobile phones and Apple portable devices as well as multifunction chargers for electronic products.

Shenzhen Sunsky Technology Ltd foresees electronic accessories to lead an estimated 30 percent increase in total export revenue. While continuing to focus on Europe and the US, the company will also seek new buyers in emerging markets in Asia, South America and Eastern Europe. Portable digital devices, car electronics and digital cameras are among its other export products.

In an interview with Global Sources, CEO Kenny Huang shares the company’s export plans in the months ahead.

What new products will you launch in the next six months?

We will release new accessories, mainly cases for Samsung mobile phones and the iPod, iPhone and iPad. We will also prioritize multifunction chargers for various electronic devices such as tablet PCs, portable digital devices and mobile phones. We anticipate these lines to top our product offerings. In addition, we will introduce popular products such as car electronics and home entertainment devices.

What sets you apart from the others in the industry?

As a trading company offering B2B and B2C services, our key edge is that we have established a stable supply chain. With more than 200 quality upstream suppliers, we can source a variety of electronic products. We keep products in stock so urgent orders can be shipped within a day. A mature logistics process is also our forte.

Further, we are running QA tests to ensure product quality, while a team of 18 employees is dedicated to aftersales service. Finally, we continuously upgrade our ERP and CRM systems to improve efficiency.

What are your company's export plans for the next six months?

We estimate our export sales to increase 30percent YoY. Western Europe and the US will remain our key markets, accounting for 70 to 80 percent of shipments. We are not impacted by the uncertain economic conditions in the two regions, mainly because we have a stable clientele.

In addition, we will explore emerging markets in Southeast Asia, Russia in Eastern Europe and South America. Midrange and high-end models will continue to dominate our product lineup.

How are you dealing with rising production costs?

Since last year, raw material and labor costs continue to increase. Thanks to our long-term partnerships with upstream suppliers, they implemented only marginal price increases. We also raised staff salaries by up to 15 percent in 2011. But this is necessary as we believe a good work environment and appropriate benefits can motivate people to give their best to the company.

How is the yuan appreciation affecting trading companies?

I think that it is greatly influencing trading companies, wholesalers and exporters alike. Since summer 2010, the yuan has appreciated by about 9 percent against the US dollar, resulting in a further decline in profit margins. Exporters and trading companies should focus more on product quality, shorten delivery period and accept large orders to make up for the loss.
