Multifunctionality remains a buzzword, as personal, home and in-car electronics with value-added features fill up the halls of the China Sourcing Fairs: Electronics & Components and Security Products.
E-book readers, LED TVs and car PCs are expected to be the main attraction in this year’s China Sourcing Fairs: Electronics & Components and Security Products. The four-day event will run from April 12 to 15 at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong.
More e-book reader suppliers are anticipated to showcase 5 to 8in or larger versions that support a range of file formats. New models boast extra functions, including MP3 player, FM radio, image browser and mouse control. Units with a built-in speaker, SD memory card slot and G-sensor are also emerging. Makers of accessories, meanwhile, are keeping pace with existing fashion trends by releasing visually appealing silicone and leather cases.
Riding on the convergence bandwagon and to maximize the viewing experience, LCD TV manufacturers will be offering all-in-one entertainment packages. Internet-ready sets with movie-download capability and models with an optional digital tuner and built-in video games will be on display. Some tier 1 exhibitors may even pull a surprise with newly minted 3DTVs. LED-backlit LCD TVs with ultraslim profiles, however, remain the centerpiece of several makers’ booths.
Up-to-speed car entertainment systems are moving toward the do-it-all trend. The latest releases come with 6in or larger screens and surround sound. These devices will not only play back DVD movies in high-definition but also have GPS navigation, Bluetooth handsfree and digital TV functions. Some models will have USB and SD memory card interfaces, and an MP3/MP4 player dock that is compatible with iPods or iPhones.
An expanded range of 2-DIN custom-fit systems for 2010 and 2009 car models are anticipated. Internet-capable car PCs with touchscreen and mouse interface will be among the top-of-the-line car electronic products.
Global Sources will host a series of free conferences paneled by trade and industry experts, where visitors could avail of varied market intelligence reports during the show. Vendor summits and private sourcing meetings are also scheduled to maximize business opportunities between volume buyers and suppliers.
