The latest vacuum flasks and travel mugs come in trendy styles, and keep contents hot or cold longer.Improving aesthetics is becoming the priority for more makers of stainless steel drinkware in China. R&D direction is pointing to performance enhancements as well. To create visually appealing designs, suppliers are incorporating novelty themes in their releases. Nanlong Group Co. Ltd has launched pieces in Halloween and Christmas motifs in tune with the upcoming holiday season. These are marketed in sets of five or six, comprising water bottles, tumblers and vacuum flasks with varying capacity. The Zhejiang province-based manufacturer’s selection also includes mugs and cups, which resemble those from Starbucks. Yongkang Jianyang Metals Co. Ltd, meanwhile, boasts versions that mimic soda bottles and cans. Previously, the supplier focused production on drinkware parts. Many of the latest releases also feature brushed bodies because such pieces resist fingerprints better than mirror-polished versions. In terms of performance, makers are improving temperature retention by using a double-wall construction. These items dominate output in the midrange and high-end segments because they are capable of keeping contents warm or cold for extended periods. Many new designs come with twist stoppers and screw caps rather than press lids, preventing air and water leakage. Zhejiang Haers Vacuum Flask Co. Ltd applies plastic coating instead of the traditional paint to impart greater impact and stain resistance. The overlay also adds texture. For more convenient drinking, Nanlong offers versions with sharing cups. These inclusions are typically designed to fit under the cap to facilitate storage and portability. Vacuum flasks dominate China’s output and exports of stainless steel drinkware. The selection also includes mugs, tumblers, and travel and sports bottles. Models come in single- and double-wall constructions. The widely used grades are 201 and 304. Materials are purchased from overseas and domestic providers. The latter are mostly situated in Yongkang, Zhejiang. The city is a major hub for the line. Imported counterparts are often procured from South Korea, Japan and Germany. Material sourcing can be buyer-specified. Prices are mainly dependent on the type of metal, capacity and additional features. Low-end versions utilize domestic 201 stainless steel and come in a single-wall configuration. These can hold 350 to 500mL, and have simple designs. Prices are $1.30 to $2. Midrange releases go for $2.10 to $3.50, and are made of 304 variants that are sourced locally or overseas. Products are available in single- or double-wall constructions with a capacity of 500 to 750mL. Select styles also have wide mouths for accommodating ice cubes, and hooks and carabiners for increased portability. High-end drinkware feature imported 304 double-wall bodies. Models come with wide mouths and can hold up to 1.5L. More expensive pieces often boast retractable handles, twist-and-pour stoppers, adjustable shoulder straps and sharing cups. Prices exceed $3.50.
