Industry overview Mainland China is home to more than 4,000 suppliers of collectible memorabilia and souvenirs. The line itself contributes 10 to 20 percent of the mainland's $10 billion annual revenue from the gifts and premiums segment. Makers are located primarily in the provinces of Guangdong, Fujian, Zhejiang and Shandong. North America, the EU, the Middle East and Asia are the main markets. The majority of companies offer a diverse range of collectible memorabilia and souvenirs. Best-sellers include commerative coins, keychains, bottle and letter openers, display spoons, badges and medals. Models come mainly in polished metal or soft PVC. Prices are determined by the size, material, finishes and the revaluation of the yuan. In Taiwan, 200 to 300 suppliers offer the line. According to local customs data, exports reached $12.7 million worth in 2007, with woven and nonwoven badges comprising a large part. The US and Europe absorb the bulk of shipments. Companies on the island are likewise offering a wide selection of collectible memorabilia and souvenirs. These include keychains, lapel pins and coins. Taiwan makers are projecting prices to increase slightly in the next 12 months, due mainly to the rising cost of zinc alloy, copper and brass.
