Upgrades on industrial electronic scales target wider applications

China-made industrial electronic scales are getting a boost in terms of features and functions as suppliers expand market reach. Most companies are focusing R&D efforts on models with a maximum weighing capacity of less than 5,000kg because the line covers more customer segments.

Greater precision is among the main goals in new product development, especially for companies targeting medical and laboratory applications. At present, the majority of units have resolutions between 1/1,000 and 1/10,000.

For some enterprises, versatility is the primary objective. Efforts in line with this have yielded more digital weighing scales with counting and price computing capability, which are widely employed in commercial and retail establishments.

Most of these designs incorporate features such as tare settings, weight and price accumulation, and memory for user convenience. Short-circuit and overload protection, and other safety mechanisms are often integrated as well.

Yongkang Yongzhou Weighing Apparatus Co. Ltd offers a portable scale with counting and price computing functions. The product can weigh objects of up to 300kg in increments of 50g. It has tare and auto-zero tracking capability.

At Fuzhou Lucky Star Co. Ltd, the selection includes units that can store 30 price look-up codes. Models come with price accumulation, subtotal recall and change computation functions.

Dongguan Hengchen Electronic Co. Ltd has released counting scales with the tare feature, and low-battery and overload indicators.

Responding to growing worldwide demand for “green” products, makers are also paying attention to energy efficiency.

Many have addressed the issue by replacing LCD screens with LED types, which consume less power. A number have released systems that shut down automatically or go on standby mode when left idle.

Zhongshan Camry Electronic Co. Ltd has introduced an electronic platform scale that does the latter after 10 seconds of no activity. The TCS-ZE11 model has a built-in rechargeable battery capable of supporting 120 hours of operation when fully charged.

Yongkang Yongzhou’s YZ-801 price computing design can operate for a similar period of time on its built-in rechargeable battery. The unit is fi tted with a double-sided LCD or LED screen.

Enhancements on visual appearance are also ongoing. As industrial scales generally resemble one another, many companies have found that tweaking productaesthetics is an effective method of attracting buyers.

Kaifeng Group Ltd Scale hires professional designers for this purpose. In coming months, it intends to introduce units that follow modern minimalist style.
