Manufacturers of CPU coolers in China continue to emphasize designs that have high heat dissipation, low noise and long operating life. They are exploring options for heat pipes, opting for materials that conduct heat well. For mounting hardware, metal types with high impact strength are used that will keep the device firmly attached to the motherboard and prevent it from creating noise.

Mainstream products from Chinese companies come with six- to 12-blade round or square fans in sizes of 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 120 and 140mm. These have 3,500 to 5,200rpm speed, 12VDC rated voltage and up to 5.04W rated power.

By bearing, the types of fans used are hydraulic, dual-ball, sliding, sleeve, ball+sleeve and rifle. The first two kinds lead output, with the hydraulic variant dominating the midrange and high-end segments.

Materials used in the production of CPU coolers are PVC for the fans, and aluminum and copper for the heat sinks. Some companies use pure copper or bronze for the heat pipes. These manufacturing inputs may come from domestic or foreign sources, depending on customers' requirements.

The rise in material costs in the past year led some suppliers to quote a bit higher. However, most kept their prices flat to remain competitive. In the coming months, outlay for inputs is expected to stabilize.
