The fall edition of the Premiere Vision Fabrics trade show in Paris showcased a range of textiles reflecting a fusion of the austere and the futuristic that lends a modern-day appeal to the latest releases. A number of models also followed a theme of 'flawed beauty', presenting a softly distressed twist. Below are three of the biggest trends, which are set to dominate fall and winter 2016-17, according to Premiere Vision Paris.

Crinkled fabrics. The textiles are applied a crisp finish to produce a wrinkled effect. Shimmering metallic surfaces and dark space age colors are also added to produce a lunar-inspired glow and a futuristic look.

Soft pixels. Pixel prints are softened a bit with the use of muted hues and blurred effects. Burn-out lacy texture and satin finishes are used to create a high-end appeal.

Scandinavian-inspired. Traditional Scandinavian patterns in knitted soft woolly textiles yield a rustic feel. Such fabrics, designed for cold weather clothing, also come with Nordic upholstery-inspired prints for a retro look.
