Active skin care, what experts call routines that help keep skin clear, hydrated and healthy, is driving the recovery of South Korea’s cosmetics market. At the Cosmetics Industry Prospect Conference 2023, the consensus was that the pandemic had dampened demand but at the same time heightened consumer interest in skin care and overall cleanliness.

In a report by GlobalData, South Korea’s market is expected to expand at more than 5 percent CAGR until 2026. This is led by the facial care sector, which will have the fastest pace at 5.7 percent annually, followed by the body care segment with 5.4 percent. Anti-aging products are also anticipated to have a strong showing on the market.

This upbeat outlook is reflected globally. Trend forecasting company WGSN says that the skin care market will reach $180 billion by 2025.
