The system was updated to work with Amazon’s Alexa, the most ubiquitous smart home digital assistant.

ADT Pulse now supports Amazon Alexa, which the company says helps keep people more secure. There's some skepticism around this claim, since shouting out a pin code is not the most security-conscious move. Still, it's an added convenience that many smart home owners will appreciate.
This new support from ADT allows users to talk to their smart security system through the Amazon Echo. With multiple ADT Pulse alarms, users can control different access points or connected devices with a simple voice command. These commands can include telling Alexa to arm and disarm with the use of a pin, check the status of a specific door, turn on lights, open the garage door and more.
The experience isn't all smooth sailing, though. Digital Trends reports that saying the pin wrong three times will disconnect Alexa from a user's ADT system. Reconnecting Alexa requires following a series of steps. This is presumably to help keep the system secure, although this undermines some of the convenience.
Ultimately, voice commands for security systems are for people who value convenience over the tightest security measures. Fingerprint scanners have also been found to be fallible, although no perfect security solution exists. Making home security more convenient is a good thing, though. It encourages people to use it. Many people are usually happy with a system that works for most people most of the time. They will still probably want to put in the security code manually when they have guests over, though.
