Amazon gets patent for electric car power delivery drone

After a three-year wait, Amazon finally got patent for a drone that can have a bright future in the electric vehicle industry. The company’s idea is that the drone will be able to refuel battery power for an electric car that is on the move.

This electric vehicle charging concept mentions requirement for a dock or clamp that the drone can use to land on top of the automobile. The drone also must have a station where it can refill its own battery power.

While this may seem convenient for electric vehicle drivers, making it possible comes with challenges, according to TechCrunch. The said need for the dock means that cars also need to be modified. In addition, drones of today are said to have restricted flight time and load capacity, thus, to make sure that every running electric vehicle gets their extra charge in time, power management and delivery system or drone networks must be planned strategically.
