The Ximmerse mobile VR platform uses an “outside-in” solution that tracks a user’s position in 3D space via an external camera. This allows the system to accurately track the position of mobile VR headsets, making players free to move around and fully interact with the VR environment. The outside-in development kit includes a stereo camera, wireless controller and LED marker for headset tracking. The camera has a horizontal and vertical FOV of 95 and 65 degrees, respectively, and a 60Hz refresh rate. The maximum tracking distance of the stereo camera is about 3m, and it has a latency of 18ms, precision within 2mm and accuracy within 10mm. The controller supports three degrees of freedom (3DoF) by itself and 6DoF with the camera. The controller is also available with haptic feedback and a touchpad.
