New units feature a power factor of up to 1. These are designed to go with specific lamp types, and meet CE, RoHS, UL and cUL standards.

    Ether’s EP81500AC-F1 model suits 90 to 130V metal halide lamps and stage lights. It has ≥0.99 power factor. A cooling fan, constant power circuit, and power factor correction capacitor are built-in. Users may select between a digital and an analog dimming system. The unit runs on 198 to 264V at 47/63Hz and generates 1,500W. The CE- and RoHS-compliant ballast has open- and short-circuit protection. It measures 205x125x60mm.

    Guangdong Jinli Electrical Appliance Co. Ltd
    The model SK-YZ40 fluorescent lamp ballast from Guangdong Jinli provides ≥0.95 power factor. It operates up to three 20W or 40W lamps. The unit uses 220VAC at 50Hz and comes with a 2-year warranty.

    Huizhou Risen’s 85110 HPS/MH1000W-D E Ballast model can be used with metal halide and high-pressure sodium lamps, and grow lights. It has >0.99 power factor and less than 10 percent THD. The 1,000W ballast supports 15m lighting distance and manual 4-phase dimming. It requires 100 to 265VAC at 50/60Hz and works between -40 and 65 C. The unit meets UL and cUL guidelines. MOQ is 300 units.

    Soben offers the model TBE-237FS electric ballast that is designed for 14, 21, 24 or 28W T5, and 18, 25 or 32W T8 fluorescent lamps. Its power factor is ≥0.99 while THD is ≤10 percent. The product runs on 200 to 304V at 50/60Hz.

    The model ST-J118E 58W ballast from Sontec is lightweight and adopts metal for the housing. It allows warm or cold start-up. The unit is noiseless, flicker-free and is said to increase lamp service life by 50 percent. It complies with various European standards.

    TOEC’s model 2T554P120-MH electronic ballast operates T5/T8/T12 fluorescent lamps on 120, 120 to 277 and 347VAC at 50/60Hz. The cULus- and cCSAus–certified product supports instant, rapid and programmed start-up.
