Shaun Rein, distinguished author and Mobile Electronics keynote speaker, will give free copies of his new book "End of Copycat China" at the Mobile Electronics Sourcing Fair.

Shaun Rein, renowned author and Managing Director of China Market Research Group, will give free copies of his latest book “The End of Copycat China: The Rise of Creativity, Innovation, and Individualism in Asia” on October 20 at the Mobile Electronics show in Hong Kong.

Rein's new book is a follow-on of his first book "The End of Cheap China" where he argues the need for "U.S. companies to move up the manufacturing value chain, relocating to other countries or potentially reshoring operations to America."

His new book "The End of Copycat China" talks about the recent changes in China's economy. It also details Rein’s predictions of the next decade’s megatrends and aims to provide a framework for investors.

Here is an excerpt from the Prologue of Rein's book:

“Slowing growth is the new reality but should not be feared—it shows the government, especially China’s new president, Xi Jinping, has finally recognized the need to rein in cheap credit and focus on economic efficiency and is confident enough to do both…

The changes boil down to two key changes business people and investors must know.

First, Chinese companies no longer just copycat business models from America and Europe. They still grab low-hanging fruit but focus more on innovation. Multinationals must adjust to increased Chinese competition, which no longer competes just with good-enough products at cheap prices but with value and innovation…

Second, Chinese consumers no longer slavishly copy trends from America and western Europe, or even their own peers in China. The movement to define the Chinese dream and renewed pride in Chinese culture has resulted in consumers moving away from images portrayed in Western advertisements…”
