Opulent berries, a violet revival and the sultry oud is set to dominate next year's fall and winter fragrance collection, according to a recent research conducted by Manchester-based fragrance firm Seven Scents. The company, which has more than 25 years of industry experience, releases a biannual report on the latest fragrance trends. It was launched as a standalone business by PZ Cussons five years ago.
"Autumn signals a change in mood and emotion, which is reflected in our fragrance forecast," says Kate Williams, a creative perfumer for the company. "The move towards luscious berry notes and hints of vintage florals creates a sense of vibrant vitality and color, while the strong presence of oud for yet another season not only marks its transition to the mainstream, it also brings a distinctly modern edge," she added.
Hedgerow Berries represents a rich blend of raspberries, blackberries, blackcurrant and icy red berries, coupled with woody accords and oriental nuances. Violet combines delicate florals, beautiful woods and lush leaves. This year's version will be given a modern makeover to deliver a contemporary and multifaceted profile. Oud will continue its rise, adding an intense musky note to more powerful compositions.
These fragrances inspired Seven Scents to create three new aromas for various applications.
First is Organic Elements, which is a fresh blend of cool spices, white woods and delicate florals suited for baby care and shower products.
Cosmic Creations evokes contrasting fruits, powdery florals and sweet gourmand notes created for deodorants, and hair-styling and shower products.
Romantic Renaissance combines dark florals with rich spices that suits bar soaps, and male-grooming and shower products.
