Brushless motors, with their size, weight and performance advantages, are expected to replace stepper and synchronous variants in years to come.

Brushless motors offered by Chinese manufacturers are available in brushless DC and synchronous types. They are widely used in home appliances, drones, medical equipment, robotics, and automotive and industrial applications.

Brushless DC units, which represent more than 70 percent of total shipments in the category, have 30 to 750W rated power and 3 to 72VDC rated voltage, and synchronous variants up to 5kW rated power and 12 to 310VDC rated voltage. Water-resistant models with an IP65 to 1P67 rating are available. Manufacturers ensure products meet CE, RoHS and UL standards.

In the coming years, brushless DC motors are expected to gradually replace stepper and brushed kinds. Electric vehicles, robotics, drones and medical equipment will be popular applications.

R&D will continue to focus on high-reliability ultrasmall and integrated units such as Sinopro's SEM5817-008 brushless DC motor. This small, lightweight model includes a controller, and speed control, lithium battery charging and lithium battery protection boards.

Key materials, including rotators, stators, shafts, magnets and shells, are generally sourced from domestic companies. Manufacturers turn to foreign providers only when required. Input costs and product prices are projected to remain relatively stable through 2021.
