Makers of heat sinks in China emphasize the use of lighter-weight aluminum for higher heat dissipation, enabling better energy efficiency in applications.

Manufacturers of heat sinks in China continue to highlight customization, which covers any material and surface treatment. Their capability spans aluminum, copper, steel, alloy and stainless steel, brass and titanium, and anodizing, blackening, electroplating, painting, powder coating, passivating and carburizing. The key uses are in mobile electronics, computers, power supplies, LEDs and the automotive field. New energy vehicles are forecast to be a hot application in the years to come.

To match trends, companies are favoring aluminum as copper's replacement because it is lighter and has better heat dissipation. The latter quality ensures greater energy efficiency in terminal products. The common grades include alloy 2024, 5052, 6061, 6063, 6082 and 7075.

Custom-made heat sinks account for more than 90 percent of local makers' total shipments. Overall, units for desktop and notebook PCs, and the automotive industry represent about 70 percent of the aggregate volume.

In China itself, the line will have a total market scale of up to $32.3 billion by 2023, rising from $22 billion in 2018, according to Qianzhan Research Institute.

Suppliers turn entirely to local sources for materials. Most ensure the inputs meet RoHS requirements. If costs remain stable, there will be no adjustments in the prices of heat sinks.

The products in this gallery have been handpicked by our China-based market analyst for representing current trends in heat sinks from China makers.
