Suppliers are using sustainable and environment-friendly materials such as sabai, sisal, jute and bamboo in more models.

Home decor suppliers in India are offering more models made of sustainable and environment-friendly materials that can be sourced domestically.

For baskets, mats and vases, among the materials being adopted are fibers from the plants sabai and sisal, which grow in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, respectively. Bamboo, sourced mostly from Tripura, Manipur and Assam, is made into pillow covers, towels and other home textiles.

Jute, another environment-friendly fiber, is used to make backing for carpets and other floor coverings. The material is found in Assam, Bihar and West Bengal.

In terms of design, intricate artwork and vivid colors are seen across all categories of home decor. The combination of ethnic and modern elements remains a trend.
