More manufacturers of chip resistors in China plan to offer types as small as 0201 and with ±0.01 percent resistance tolerance, eyeing 5G applications and electric vehicles.
Manufacturers in China's chip resistor production industry will focus on the release of models in 0201 and 01005 sizes in the next several years. High-precision types with ±0.01 percent tolerance and 5ppm/C temperature coefficient are also on their roadmap. These features are expected to be in high demand, especially for 5G devices and electric vehicles.
Units designed for use in communications, consumer electronics, audio, automotive and medical applications currently make up the mainstream selection in China. These come in 0402, 0603, 0805, 1206, 1812, 2010 and 2512 packages, with the first three accounting for most shipments. Variants in 0201 and 01005 packages can also be sourced but only from large companies such as Fenghua Advanced.
Widely offered chip resistors include thick-, thin-film and general-purpose kinds with resistance tolerance of ±1, ±2, ±5 and ±10 percent, while high-precision types have ±0.01 to ±1 percent. Other common specifications are 10ohm to 3Mohm resistance and 5, 10, 15, 25 and 50 ppm/C temperature coefficient. By rated power and voltage, 1/20, 1/16, 1/10, 1/8, 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, 3/4 and 1W, and 50, 150 and 200V are the choices. Typical operating temperature is -55 to 125 C. Products conform to CE, RoHS and UL standards.
Key materials such as resistive paste, ceramic substrates and silver paste may come from domestic or foreign providers as required.
