Units with four to 10 layers represent for more than 50 percent of China's output value for the line.

Multilayer types represent more than half of mainland China suppliers' FR-4 PCB output value, with 4 to 10-layer kinds collectively owning a portion surpassing 80 percent.

HDI variants account for 25 percent, dominated by low-count models as well. The latter's aggregate share exceeds 80 percent.

Regardless of classification, releases have 1.6, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4 or 5mil minimum line width and spacing, with those in 3 and 4mil the most common. Based on the smallest hole sizes, the options include mainly 0.05, 0.075, 0.1, 0.15, 0.2, 0.25 and 0.3mm. As for the surface finish, ENIG, HASL, OSP, immersion silver and tin, flash gold, gold finger and hard gold are the usual choices.

Manufacturers purchase materials and components from local and foreign providers.

The latter sources for key input FR-4 CCL are Shengyi, GDM, Kingboard, Nanya, Iteq, TUC and EMC, while solder mask comes from Taiyo, Tamura, Goo and GreenCure. Major local suppliers of the second include Kuangshun, Rongda, 3Q and ABQ.

Wuzhu Technology Co. Ltd uses FR-4 CCL from Shengyi, EMC and Iteq, and solder mask from Goo, Tamura and Taiyo. Jiangmen Benlida Printed Circuit Co. Ltd and Shenzhen X-Mulong Circuit Co. Ltd turn to Shengyi and Kingboard, with the former also obtaining the component from Nanya and the second from GDM. Shenzhen X-Mulong adopts solder mask from Taiyo, Rongda and Tamura.

Copper foil and granules, prepreg, tin lead bars, gold salt and chemicals are from domestic providers.

Input costs, including that of FR-4 CCL, copper and gold, have gone down, and will result in lower prices in 2016. Makers estimate the adjustment will be within 5 percent.
