Cashing in on the smart home trend, manufacturers of LED strips in China are taking advantage of the category's successful crossover to the consumer market. They offer products value-added with today's available connectivity technologies such as smart control via app or voice while still emphasizing improved brightness and reliability.
Mainstream range consists of rigid and flexible types in emitted colors of warm, cool and natural white, RGB and RGBW. DIP and SMD LEDs are used, with the latter mainly in sizes of 5050, 3528, 2835, 0603, 0805 and 1210.
Common rigid LED strips come with 18, 24, 30, 36 or 40 SMD LEDs or 18, 24, 36 or 48 DIP types. Flexible variants usually have 18 or 24 SMD LEDs per 30cm, and 15, 24 or 30 per 50cm length, although other lengths are available. Both types have 12 or 24V rated voltage and 14.3 or 18.2W/m rated power. In color temperature, the options are 3,500, 6,500 and 7,500K. Water-resistant units have an IP65, IP67 or IP68 rating.
Most Chinese suppliers ensure products are CE-approved, UL-listed and RoHS-compliant.
LEDs, PCBs, adhesives and other inputs used in the production of LED strips are sourced domestically. Their costs are expected to remain unchanged and keep prices at current levels.
30 RGB LEDs per meter, IP65-rated
Per meter, Everest Products Co. Ltd's model SC-1 has 30 5050 RGB LEDs, each with 16 to 18 lumens and 0.2W. This IP65-rated unit has 12VDC, 2A rating and supports Bluetooth app control. It comes in reels of 5m. The 3,000-unit minimum order requirement has a 10-day delivery lead time.
Solar-powered, warm-white LEDs
A flexible strip, the model SC-2 from Everest Products Co. Ltd runs on an 800mAh battery, which recharges via a bundled 2V, 150mA solar panel with a ground stake for easy installation. A 6-hour full charge has a discharge equivalent of 8 to 10 hours. This 10m-long product has 100 warm-white LEDs and different light effects. An order of at least 3,000 units is required. Delivery lead time is 10 days.
Wi-Fi-enabled, RGB LEDs, IP65-rated
Shenzhen Reflying Electronic Co. Ltd offers model RLD37-7, a Wi-Fi-enabled flexible LED strip compatible with Google Home, Alexa and HomeKit. A meter has 24 5050 or 2839 SMD RGB LEDs. This 24VDC unit, with 3,000 to 6,500K color temperature, is IP65-rated. Strip width is 12mm. The minimum order requirement is 1,000 sets and has a 20-day delivery lead time.
Voice control, water-resistant
This Wi-Fi-enabled flexible LED strip from Shenzhen Reflying Electronic Co. Ltd, model RLD37-2, features 24 5050 or 2839 SMD RGB LEDs per meter. Color temperature is 3,000 to 6,500K. This unit, with 24VDC input voltage, can be controlled using Google Home, Alexa and HomeKit. Water resistance rating is IP65.
The 1,000-set minimum order has a delivery lead time of 20 days.
2835 SMD RGBW LED chips, 3m
The model SPLU0190-0312WF-830/65RGBC/W, a flexible LED strip from Zhejiang Twinsel Electronic Technology Co. Ltd, measures 3m in length and uses 2835 SMD RGBW LED chips. It has 220 to 240VAC, 60Hz input and 18W rated power. This IP65 product is CE-approved and RoHS-compliant. The supplier requires a 200-unit minimum order. Delivery lead time is 40 days.
RGBW LED chips, 2m
Zhejiang Twinsel Electronic Technology Co. Ltd's SPLU0190-028WF-830/65RGBC/W model is an IP65 flexible LED strip measuring 2m. It has 2835 SMD RGBW LED chips. Input is 220 to 240VAC, 60Hz and rated power 12W. This RoHS-compliant product has CE approval. An order of at least 200 units is required. Delivery lead time is 40 days.
