Using an Android or iOS app, models can be “told” to switch on or off or adjust brightness and color.
China’s selection of smart LED lights with settings that can be configured from a mobile phone or tablet via an app continues to expand. Most versions work with Android and iOS devices.
Through the app, bulbs can be programmed to switch on or off automatically at a preset time, although in some designs, voice control can be used to do the same. The app can also set brightness and color to suit a particular environment. Options for the latter include more than 1.6 million combinations.
In terms of connectivity, China-made smart LED bulbs require Wi-Fi or LAN. One featured model, however, uses ZigBee wireless technology.
To maximize energy savings inherent in LED bulbs, suppliers are equipping their products with a range of sensors that determine when illumination and how much of it is needed.

The HG-Q228IL model from E Wonder Import & Export Trade Co. is a smart lamp that can be controlled via an app over Wi-Fi. From a smartphone or tablet, the user can switch on or off the light at a preset time, and adjust its color and brightness. Android and iOS devices are supported. The minimum order is 100 units for $14.50 each.
Multiple sensors
From General Lighting Electronics Co. Ltd, the GLM-ACAH-X-0658 model is a remote-controlled panel light equipped with motion, light and IR sensors that help minimize energy consumption while providing optimal lighting. The unit will automatically light up when it senses movement in the room. Users can also set the brightness according to their preferred illuminance. Each 40W panel measures 600x600mm and yields 3,600 lumens. Input is 100 to 240VAC. Life span is 50,000 hours. MOQ is 10 units. Price is $30 to $40.
Phone, camera flash accessory
The K-3029I model from Guangzhou Wesdar Electronic Technology Co. Ltd is the world’s first sync LED flash accessory designed for mobile phones and cameras. It automatically configures optimal flash settings in low-light situations. The unit is portable and compact, measuring only 28x32x12mm. It uses four LEDs that have a color temperature of 5,600K and a CRI of 80. The product can provide up to 500 flashes and works on Android and iOS devices. MOQ is 1,000 units.
Voice control
Jiaxing Yaou Optical Technology Co. Ltd’s BM0100-A-6446 model has a wine glass shape, and is app- and voice-controlled. It consumes 0.2W and uses a 7V battery. The brightness and the color of the LED light can be changed by the user from the app. Beam angle is 152 degrees. Each item goes for $10 to $15 for a minimum order of 3,000 units.
Supports 1.6 million colors
The WF820 model from Shenzhen Vstarcam Technology Co. Ltd is a multicolor LED bulb that supports more than 1.6 million colors. Its brightness, color and power settings can be adjusted via an app over Wi-Fi or LAN connection. The product has a life span of 50,000 hours and consumes 6W at 100 to 240VAC. It is housed in aluminum alloy and PC. Color temperature is 6,500K. MOQ is one unit for $15 to $20.
