Companies in China's production sector for temperature sensors are enhancing product performance to broaden market reach.

Manufacturers of temperature sensors in China are steering R&D toward units comparable with those offered by foreign companies in terms of precision and reliability. They are also looking at having small integrated types with high output signal, precision and reliability, and long operating life in future releases. Only some companies have introduced the latter kind, which is expected to go mainstream in the next two to three years.

At present, production focuses on entry-level and midrange variants. The typical selections are contact and contactless types with temperature sensing ranges of 5 to 95 C for water, 95 to 300 C for oil, -80 to 100 C for low- and constant-temperature applications, and 300 to 1,200 C for high.

Thermocouples, platinum resistors, thermistors, wires, protection tubes and glue make up the main components and materials used in the manufacture of temperature sensors.
