Hot CES trends to look forward to at Global Sources Electronics

The recently concluded Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas drew crowds in the hundreds of thousands, mostly industry professionals looking for the hottest innovations in the world of technology. More than 4,000 exhibitors from fast-growing startups to the tech industry's biggest names were in attendance showcasing their latest gadgets.

Forbes Magazine contributor Daniel Newman listed the top trends he saw during the event. Among the highlights are voice-assisted devices, smart cars, interactive robots and immersive VR systems.

The upcoming Global Sources Electronics show this April will likewise feature similar products from emerging and emerging manufacturers from the Greater China region and neighboring Asia hubs. Smart home devices: Intelligent virtual assistants that respond to voice commands are now becoming more mainstream in smart home products. The majority of these units support Amazon's Alexa, Google Assistant or Apple's Siri.

Companion robots: Going beyond housework, robots can now be used as a companion for users to provide entertainment, fall and stay asleep and even assist in disaster recovery situations. Robots can now also learn to interact with humans and become more empathetic.

Artificial Intelligence: More devices are becoming reliant on AI technology to be able to perform human-intelligence tasks. With this, smart consumer products and vehicles are expected to rise in popularity.

Augmented reality: AR is seen to outpace virtual reality, with the technology further improving to immerse users while keeping them connected. The experience will also be made available on mobile devices.

Health sensors: Medical and health industries are making waves in consumer tech with various sensors that track and aim to improve the user’s health. Sleep and heart rate sensors, along with calorie counters, are currently hot items.

Facial recognition: Though not entirely new, facial recognition technology is improving further to become a viable and dependable security feature in devices. This will be implemented not only on mobile devices, but also on other consumer products and standard video systems.

Connected devices: More devices are expected to take advantage of IoT to create connected products. This development will usher in a new wave of wearable devices, which will include even those that do not rely on batteries.

Virtual reality: VR is moving toward incorporating more features while having an inexpensive price tag. A number of devices are now sporting 3K and 8K displays, which further immerse the user into the virtual world.
