New from Shenzhen Indell Industrial Co. Ltd is model 1884, an IP67-rated personal tracker with health monitoring functions and support for 2G, 3G, and 4G SIM cards. The unit has an MTK2503D chipset, a 3.7V/400mAh battery, and 32MB of built-in memory with support for an additional 32MB. Tracking function is via GPS, A-GPS, LBS or Wi-Fi.

The unit’s functions include heart rate and blood pressure monitoring, steps taken, two-way calling, call and alarm clock alerts, SOS alert, and geofencing. Functions are supported by an app called Se Tracker 2.

The unit measures 26.8x7.2x 3.8cm and weighs 80g.

Shenzhen Indell was established in 2004 and has an 8,000sqm factory.

Analyst’s comment: Personal safety tracking devices are gaining popularity with applications in child and elderly care. A key market driver is the increasing number of dual-income households with children and senior members and the desire of household heads to ensure the safety of vulnerable family members. Research by Technavio forecasts personal safety tracking devices to be worth $397.7 million by 2025, growing at a CAGR of 9.47 percent during the five-year period.
