Find out why iPhone sales have gone down, and what seems to be thriving instead in the tech market.

Gone are the days wherein people are buying new iPhones every year. And with most iPhones ranging from $1,000 to $1,500, a lot of consumers aren't willing to cash in on that whooping price tag. Instead, they are opting to keep their phones longer than they did a few years back. And it shows in Apple’s most recent quarter earnings.

Last week, Apple released its 2019 fiscal results. As mentioned in CNET, iPhone sales have experienced the greatest decrease, which have been reported to be 17 percent down. But it isn’t all gloom and doom for the Cupertino-based trillion-dollar company as its wearables department has amassed a massive growth.

With people keeping their phones for a longer period, they are investing instead on accessories especially smart watches and wireless headphones. As noted in a Tailosive Tech video, Apple's wearable products have seen a nearly 50 percent growth. This success can be attributed to the soaring sales of the Apple Watch and Apple AirPods.

Health is indeed wealth. A huge contributor to the high Apple Watch sales are its health and fitness tracking features. Here's a statement from Apple's CEO Tim Cook: “With each passing quarter, we're more inspired by the impact our products are having on people's fitness and health. This quarter, we brought the ECG app on Apple Watch Series 4…. Just like when the ECG app launched in the United States, there's hardly a day that goes by that I don't get a letter or an e-mail from a customer in one of these countries talking about how this feature has significantly changed their life. We believe we're really just beginning to tap into what we can do to help our users actively manage their health and well-being." More and more people are placing value on their wellness, and so the use and interest of smart watches are growing rapidly.

Wireless technology is cool. Dubbed as a "cultural phenomenon" by Tim Cook, there is no denying that AirPods are greatly contributing to Apple's revenue. Consumers are slowly embracing a tangle-free lifestyle with the use of wireless audio products. The audio jack removal in the iPhone 7 back in 2016 might have caused an uproar at that time, but Apple was right to lead the market into a direction of enjoying music through wireless means. Now, more manufactures are producing wireless headphones, earphones and earbuds as well. And consumers are buying them.

2019 is indeed a big year for wearables. Smart watches are being used to track one's health and fitness. Wireless audio products are gaining traction in the mobile industry as the world is slowly embracing a lifestyle of wireless technology. With smart watches and wearables thriving and growing today, sourcing for more affordable alternatives can be a smart choice as well. Consumers enjoy premium products at the most affordable and reasonable price as possible, and Asia manufacturers can offer that.
