India makers are intensifying output of stylish all-occasion models in bright hues.
Single-breasted designs suited for both formal and casual occasions dominate India's selection of men's blazers. Most models have narrow overlapping front flaps in varying lengths and widths with one to three buttons. Four-button jackets are also offered but mostly on request.
To boost differentiation, makers are incorporating contrast-colored or -textured collars. Some overlap in a conical cut rather than the traditional V-shape. Several models come with wide flapped pockets and curved bottom edges. Slim-fit designs are likewise being produced in greater quantities.
Companies are also using color to pique buyer interest. Black, gray, navy blue, olive green and maroon are still mainstream hues but releases in beige, dark green, turquoise, red and yellow are currently gaining traction.

There are an estimated 200 to 300 suppliers of men's blazers in India, with exporters numbering about 100. Small enterprises have a monthly output of 200 to 500 pieces, midrange companies between 500 and 1,000 pieces, and large manufacturers 1,000 to 2,000 jackets. Annual revenue from the last can exceed $2 million.
Most makers are situated in Ludhiana in the state of Punjab. The district accounts for more than 20 percent of the country's production of men's blazers. Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai are the other key manufacturing hubs.
The US, Canada, Germany, France and the UK are main export destinations. Suppliers are also planning to boost shipments to the Netherlands, Denmark, Singapore, Russia and the UAE in coming months. Men's blazers have strong domestic demand as well.
