Smart lighting gets even smarter with intelligent fixtures that can work without plenty of accessories, wiring and complicated controls. Among the latest lighting companies strengthening its next-gen home offerings is Ledvance that just released a smart version of its filament bulb.
The product, Sylvania Smart+ Soft White A19 filament bulb, is made compatible with Apple’s HomeKit. This new feature is said to allow Siri and the Apple Home app to be the intelligent Bluetooth-ready central hub that manages the bulb. Reports say customers can save on buying a separate controller and smart socket for the lighting fixture. HomeKit compatibility is also said to add more customizability to the bulb features, including intensity and color temperature, to suit a room’s ambiance..
More makers linking their products to smart home platforms and assistants shows that intelligent lighting is becoming more attractive and profitable. Aside from HomeKit and app compatibility, another “hot” feature manufacturers are adding to smart lights today is voice control. Ikea is among the companies that have started offering voice assistant-ready smart lights.
Besides the two names mentioned above, China manufacturers are also making a good run in the smart lights race. The supply of app-, Bluetooth-, Wi-Fi- and voice-enabled smart bulbs from China are upgraded fast and suit lots of applications.
