Barbie maker Mattel partnered with Silicon Valley-based computing platform Tynker to launch toy lines that teach children computer programming.

The collaborative effort has developed coding programs based on content from Mattel brands such as Monster High and Hot Wheels. Both companies aim to provide youngsters with expanded instruction to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) activities.

The courses were intended for children from levels grade three and above with puzzles and interactive exercises to make learning programming easier and more fun. The program is ladderized, and users can graduate to more advanced topics once they have mastered the basics.
