Doorbells are getting the “brains” through reliable facial recognition and motion detection technologies, and they are turning even smarter with voice AI. A new doorbell, Kickstarter hit Belle, is a perfect example of the trend.
Belle by Netvue is a smart doorbell that can identify and remember who the visitor is. It lets the homeowner see and talk to whoever is at the doorstep remotely, but what’s more attractive about Belle is that it can also answer visitors on its own.
Belle the smart doorbell is able to recognize scheduled, regular and unexpected visitors. It tells them to come in, ask who they are looking for and ward off strangers or instruct to just leave the package at the doorstep, respectively. Belle supports 24 hours of operation and monitoring, and can send visitor requests to a mobile app or call the owner when necessary.
The smart doorbell also works with Amazon Alexa. This means it follows voice commands from an Alexa-enabled smart speaker or home hub.
Belle will be shipped to its backers starting March. Its release shows that doorbells of the future can work like intelligent doormen.
