Gel battery suppliers eye wide use of silica and tin nanoparticles to boost product capacity and charge and discharge cycles.
Makers of gel batteries in China focus on enhancing product performance and look to add nano-SiO₂ to electrolytes and nano-tin to activators in next models. Compared with conventional types, such nano gel variants have up to 30 percent higher capacity below -10 C and support 200 times more charge and discharge cycles for improved reliability.
The Tianneng Group has realized greater capacity and cycle count respectively by 10 and 30 percent in its 12 or 16V-rated nano gel releases with 10 to 32Ah rated capacity. This allows the batteries to maintain more than 85 percent rated capacity after 300 times of charging and discharging.
The local mainstream selection consists of traditional 50 to 3,000Ah 2V, 100/200Ah 6V and 33 to 250Ah 12V versions with 800 to 1,500 charge and discharge cycles. Products target applications in the communications, power system, transportation and security fields.
Plates, tin pastes and electrolytes come mostly from the domestic supply, while separators are sourced from foreign providers as requested.
Most makers will maintain prices, expecting the cost of materials and components to stay relatively flat in the next one or two years. Some may opt to lower quotes due to competition.
