Makers continue to take inspiration from flowers, leaves, animals and other objects in nature when updating their collections.
Efforts at differentiation have resulted in Vietnam tableware suppliers offering a wider range of patterns and shapes. In these endeavors, nature remains the primary source of inspiration for new designs.
Stylized floral and leaf patterns are popular. Fruit and animals are common motifs as well, especially in serving plates, trays and tea sets. Many companies adopt flora and fauna indigenous or culturally significant to Vietnam such as lotus flowers, bamboo plants and elephants to further set their pieces apart in the international market.
Decorative details can be handpainted, carved, inlaid, woven or embroidered. The tableware itself can be in a novelty shape.
To offer buyers greater variety in design, makers are combining different materials in a single product. Releases in line with this trend include serving trays with bamboo borders and coiled seagrass bases, or vice versa. In placemats and table runners, models combining bamboo and rattan are being offered.

Artex Anxa Co. Ltd offers these spun bamboo salad servers in two-piece sets. The top part of each piece has a natural finish, while the handle is painted.

Artex Nam An uses bamboo for the raised border of this tray, which has inset handles. The coiled seagrass base features a floral pattern.

Barotex Vietnam Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company offers this wave-edge bowl in various colors. The spun bamboo product is 28cm in diameter and 10 or 12cm in height.

The model N423170 tea set from Barotex is made of ceramic with a gray finish. The teapot is 15x14.5cm, while the cups are 7x5.5cm.

Model BTM006 from Huong Dang Artistic Handicrafts & Lacquerwares Co. Ltd is a placemat made of bamboo and thread. It measures 40x30cm.
