A group of students from Massachusetts has invented a smart shade that combats seasonal affective disorder.

In order to fight off seasonal affective disorder or SAD, a type of depression associated with winter due to the lack of light, a group of high school students from Massachusetts has devised a sunlamp that comes in the form of a smart window shade.

The Smile Shade is basically a roll-up window curtain that lights up to mimic natural sunshine. As it hangs like a regular shade, the model does not take unnecessary space nor require additional setup time.

With an app, users can schedule when the Smile Shade would turn on or off. Brightness of the lamp is also adjustable.
