Personal theater headset offers IMAX-like experience

Surpassing thrice its crowdfunding goal in Kickstarter with still many days left in its campaign, Cinera Inc.'s new immersive personal theatre headset seems to be a must-try in home entertainment.

The Cinera headset is said to deliver IMAX-like movie and sound quality through a dual 2560x1440p display. It lets users feel like they are watching from a big screen without leaving the comfort of their couches at home. The smart headset streams 2D and 3D movies, and supports 5K UHD, Android 6.0 and HDMI. It can even be used for gaming and flying drones. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 are the connectivity options.

What’s unique with this personal theatre headset is that it can be attached to an adjustable arm holder. This is designed to reduce headset weight on the user's head or hands, a common issue in some VR and theatre headsets. Some might find the movable arm bulky inside a home, or uncomfortable as The Verge points out, but it seems that the immersive movie quality is still the more interesting aspect for backers or reviewers. Users can opt to just use the head mount if that’s the case.

Cinera plans to ship the personal theatre headset starting November.
