Smart air purifiers are a breath of fresh air, literally

Air purifiers are quickly becoming a staple in households as more people are increasingly becoming aware of pollution levels and related health risks, report says. Awareness is a key contributor to the strong global demand for air purifiers, particularly in China, India and South Korea.

Air purifiers are designed to improve air quality inside the home or any building. It is made to detect impurities in the air and remove them. Technological advancements and innovation, meanwhile, have developed models that are smarter.

Most air purifiers today can be paired with mobile phones. For instance, Holmes developed an app called WeMo that serves as a universal remote control for all the manufacturer’s offered products, including lights, humidifier and coffee maker. With WeMo, owners can adjust the settings of the Holmes smart purifier from anywhere. Users will also receive notification if the filters need to be replaced soon.

Big brands such as Dyson has also introduced an app-enabled bladeless fan that doubles as an air purifier.

Smarter air purifiers are also built to filter out less common impurities. An example would be uHoo, which can detect traces of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and ozone. It can also monitor humidity and air pressure. Another example is from Xiaomi, which spots formaldehyde and benzene.
