Helium, a new smart bulb on Kickstarter, is dubbed as a “machine-learning” lighting fixture that can broaden Wi-Fi range and change lighting automatically according to what the user wants or is doing.

The Helium bulb learns how users adjust it through AI. It also detects when users are in the area via Bluetooth LE proximity, knows what time they sleep, of if they wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. It then lights up and activates the preferred lighting mode at the right time. The bulb can run on its own after learning but will send notifications to the owner’s mobile phone if there is a change in his or her habits so that the light could be attuned accordingly. The smart bulb also has a “night shift” mode, wherein it adapts to the amount of sunlight and chooses from 2,000 to 5,000K color temperatures.

As regards the Wi-Fi function, the bulb has a built-in extender that enhances only Wi-Fi when signals are weak.

Recent Wi-Fi bulb releases are already easy to operate through smart switch, app and Bluetooth controls, and now Helium takes convenience to a higher level with AI technology. Wi-Fi bulbs that are fully autonomous could arise in the future.
