Water solutions startup Tern Water invented the Smart Faucet, a faucet attachment that purifies water and sends water usage statistics.

Smart Faucet has a universal connection, allowing it to be attached to an existing fixture. It adopts a carbon filter that is said to remove lead, chlorine and mercury from water. At the tip of the product is a smart hub that works with an app to show users their home water system’s consumption and savings, and the filter’s life span.

Users are provided automatically replacement filters when Smart Faucet indicates that these need changing.

Smart Faucet’s creators have tested the faucet in Flint, Michigan, where lead contamination in water is a problem. Water-filtration faucets are already mainstream in the market but adding intelligent water consumption features is a sure boost to the line and at the same time helps in the greater cause of solving water crises.
