Smart toolbox is gadget charger, wireless speaker, bottle opener

California-based industrial designers have created Coolbox, a smart toolbox that can provide power and entertainment, and make repairs easier.

Coolbox is equipped with a built-in 11.1V 3Ah Li-polymer battery that can supply power continuously to two USB outlets, allowing users to charge mobile devices that they can use to view repair instructional videos.

The smart toolbox also integrates two tablet PC stands and a hidden mobile phone compartment. Users need not worry about their gadgets for the toolbox is water-resistant.

Another unique capability of the product is that it can play audio files via its marine-grade speakers with Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.

Coolbox combines what’s “cool” with “practical”. It has a magnetic lid that allows the users to place small metals, nuts and bolts without these getting lost. The lid has a removable whiteboard in case one needs to take down project notes.

The toolbox can be tugged along easily with its rubber wheels that roll smoothly thanks to their pre-oiled bearings. There are two side handles that support a 60-pound load, making the toolbox convenient to carry and transfer to a higher shelf.

In addition, it has a detachable rechargeable lamp that works four hours and is suitable for use in dark areas of the home or at night.

Lastly, Coolbox can even encourage the owner to hydrate while working because it adopts a bottle opener.

The product retails for $199 and is set to be shipped in July.
