China manufacturers have jumped on the burgeoning kid-centric trend in tablet PCs, releasing a selection of Android tablets with content, features and aesthetics geared specifically for children.
Models are often colorful and adopt the traditional rectangular shape of “adult” tablets but with rounded corners to minimize accidents. Some offer a range of parental controls.

1A splash of sunshine
Shenzhen Bonusis’ BM723K2-A27 model features a bright yellow housing with rounded corners to ensure children’s safety. Its 7in display is 800x480p.
The model has an ATM7023 dual-core Cortex A9 1.0GHz processor and uses Android 4.1. The device supports several languages, including English and Chinese, and plays a range of image, video and audio formats.
2Parent-friendly kid’s tablet PC
The 7in MID-7012B model from Shenzhen Newtech has separate interfaces running on Android 4.2.2 for children and parents.
Priced $45 to $55, the model is housed in a bright orange, blue, green, purple or red shell. Its 7in multipoint capacity touchscreen is HD. It supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity.
3Blue tablet to get rid of the blues
Charter Profit’s CP-0169 Blue model is housed in a white-and-blue shell with kid-safe rounded corners. It runs on Android 4.1 and has a 7in 800x480p capacitive touchscreen.
The children’s tablet PC supports numerous video, audio, photo and e-book formats, including MPEG, WMV, MP3, OGG, WMA, JPG, GIF, BMP, EPUB, TXT and PDF. It runs on an Infotmic iMAPx15 dual-core ARM Cortex-A5 CPU.
4Picture fun
Kids will spend hours taking pictures on E-Ran’s model P706 children’s tablet PC, which has a 2MP back and 0.3MP front camera.
The model runs on Android 4.2.2 and has a 7in 5-point TFT capacitive touchscreen. It plays 3D, G-sensor and touch games.
55 hours of play
With a 3.7V 3,000mAh Li-ion polymer battery, the VS 702 model from Shenzhen Videostrong can be used for four to five hours to view photos, and play video and music files. BMP, JPG, MPEG, AVS, MP3, WMA and WAV are among the file types supported.
The children’s tablet PC is priced at $40 to $55 for an MOQ of 200 units. It has a 5-point capacitive touchscreen.
64.3in tablet PC suits small hands
Corelink’s model MID-401 children’s tablet PC has a 4.3in multitouch capacitive screen. It is powered by an Allwinner A13 Cortex A9 1GHz processor, and has 0.3MP front and rear cameras.
The Wi-Fi model has 4GB of storage expandable to 32GB. It uses Android 4.0.
74GB of storage
Children will have 4GB worth of storage space with the K1S model from Shenchuang. The Android 4.2-based tablet is priced at $57 to $65 for an MOQ of 3,000 units.
The model has an RK3028 Cortex A9 dual-core 1.2GHz CPU and supports a 3G USB dongle. Front and rear cameras are optional.
8Kids’ tablet PC ‘speaks’ many languages
With its Rockchip 2926 ARM Cortex-A9 CPU, the M755-P10 model from Shenzhen Chinaleap can support multiple languages.
The 8GB children’s tablet PC has a 7in 1024x600p TFT LCD. It runs on Android 4.1 and plays multiple audio and video formats, including MP3, OGG, WAV, AAC, AVI, DAT, M4V, MP4 and FLV.
9Paw-shaped colorful tablet PC
The paw-shaped housing of Gardex’s GX-I7088-16 model features customizable color combinations. Versions for boys come in blue and yellow. Pink-and-yellow types are for girls.
Priced $44 to $55, the model has a Boxchip A13 Cortex-A8 1.2 to 1.5GHz processor and 4GB NAND flash memory. It runs on Android 4.2 and has Wi-Fi connectivity. The 7in TFT LCD has a resolution of 800x480p.
10Big kids’ tablet PC
With a Rockchip RK3168 Cortex A9 dual-core processor, 8in 1024x768p TFT LCD and 8GB NAND flash memory, the MD-R811D model from Shenzhen Hyuda is sturdy enough for older children.
The Wi-Fi model has a 0.3MP front and 2MP rear camera. It uses Android 4.2.2 and runs on a 3.7V 4,000mAh battery.
11Extra-long surfing, viewing
Clover’s K710 model takes “technonannying” to the extreme by supporting 6 hours of web browsing and 7 hours of videos. Its A13 ARM Cortex A9 1.5GHz processor runs Android 4.2.
The model ‘speaks’ simplified and traditional Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Russian and Spanish. It supports MP3, WMA, MP2, OGG, AAC, M4A, MA4, FLAC, 3GP and WAV formats. The five-point capacitive touchscreen is 7in and 800x480p.
